Hello!

Welcome! This is my space to ramble about books, travel, tea and everything in between.

Upcoming Book Adaptations

Upcoming Book Adaptations

There's nothing better than seeing your favourite characters come to life and whilst for some the book will always be better, I think we’re having a somewhat special moment when it comes to television. Big Little Lies, The Handmaid's Tale and Game Of Thrones all spring to mind. So here are some upcoming and rumoured adaptations that I’m pretty excited about...

  • The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair - there may be one day when I can write a post without mentioning this book but that day is not yet here. I squealed, a real life squeal, when I saw the stirrings that this may be happening. Starring Patrick Dempsey as Harry, which in itself is pretty exciting even though I'm not a Grey's Anatomy fan he is a solid actor. Nothing seems to be confirmed for the lead Marcus  and that's really as much as I can gather from the internet. No release date yet but looks as if it is going to be around 6 episodes. There will probably be more squealing when a trailer comes out but until then...

  • Patrick Melrose Novels - being bought to us by Sky Atlantic. A five part mini series with each episode tackling a book. I'm thrilled about this adaptation not only because I love the books but I'm a huge Benedict Cumberbatch fan. He always seems to divide opinions but I'm all for him. I'll pop a link to the trailer here but other than that we're stuck with 'Coming Soon' as our release date but that does mean you've got time to crack on with the books.

  • Career of Evil, Cormoran Strike Novels - we were treated to The Silkworm and The Cuckoo's Calling in Autumn and the shows were such a huge success they are carrying on. Written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith - these books are from the ever fantastic mind of J.K Rowling. I'm guessing this may be on our screens once McMafia has finished but we shall have to see.

  • The Little Drummer Girl, John le Carré - Another BBC production in the pipeline which isn't surprising after the hugely successful The Night Manager. Also a pretty exciting cast with Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgård, of Big Little Lies fame. John le Carré novels are a stalwart for any reader who's a fan of espionage and if The Night Manager is anything to go by then happy days.

  • Vanity Fair - Both ITV and Amazon Prime seem to be behind this seven parter. As much as I love a grizzly thriller, I am a Period Drama advocate. I watch Downton re-runs, can't wait for Victoria to return to our screens and would be pretty much lost without Poldark. Suffice to say I am very much looking forward to this one. Bring on the bonnets.

  • His Dark Materials - this is rumoured to be happening and happening slowly. I always thought this would work best on the box as you need time to build up the story. For now it's a watch this space...
